Wave’s Imprint: An International Cinematic Experiment

We are excited to announce the premiere of Waves Imprint, an international production coordinated by VAR Cultural Association – Romania, created between July and October 2024.

The film brings together 18 young cochlear implant users from Belgium, England, Turkey, Iran, Moldovia, Croatia, the Philippines, and Romania, each offering a unique perspective on daily life. They explored familiar paths, reinterpreting everyday details in an artistic and deeply personal way.

The results of this collaboration have transcended geographical, linguistic, and cultural barriers, merging diverse visions into an authentic story that highlights the imagination, originality, playfulness, curiosity, and inventiveness of the participants.

The filming with the participants from Romania took place in a creative camp, where the young people constructed scenes based on improvisation exercises and discussions facilitated by the project team and professionals involved. At the same time, participants from abroad worked remotely over three months, receiving weekly personalized emails guiding them through artistic challenges designed to encourage them to freely express their ideas and explore new ways of experimenting visually and narratively.

This production celebrates cultural diversity and unity through art, demonstrating the ability of young people to build connections between different worlds.

The premiere will take place in Bucharest on November 2nd, during a public event, and starting on November 3rd, the film will be available online on the platform waveforme.org/en/.

Also, as part of the event on November 2nd, there will be a collective exhibition showcasing a selection of works from the virtual gallery, which was presented in August and can still be visited by accessing the same platform.

The evolution of the project can be followed on social media – Facebook: WaveforMe / Instagram: waveforme.var.
