The Spanish Confederation of Families of Deaf people (FIAPAS) was founded in 1978 in order to tackle the needs of the people with hearing disability and their families. Nowadays, FIAPAS is a national-wide confederation composed by 45 organisations (regional federations and local associations). FIAPAS is the main platform of representation for parents with deaf children in Spain.
The mission of FIAPAS is to represent and advocacy for the rights and interests of people with hearing disability and their families, both nationwide and internationally. The Confederation carries out its mission in front of the Society, Administrations and any other institution. FIAPAS makes it possible by including and promoting the action of its regional federations and local associations.
