Andrea – Spain
I am Andrea Horel Gallego, 14 years old, with a cochlear implant since I was 2 and a half years old and a hearing aid since I was one year old. I suffer from bilateral hearing loss due to meningitis.
I have been attending local association of families in Granada since my diagnosis.
Since I was three years old, I started to attending dance classes and I have a degree in basic dance education. I have always participated on an equal conditions to the rest of my classmates, I have performed in different shows and I have even won a dance competition. I was selected in a casting to participate in Peter Pan’s play as a lost child.
Currently I am studying third year of Secondary School, I have always liked the show, and I do it well, I am currently participating in an ERASMUS PLUS program where I have performed a play in English and I had to represent it in an exchange, in my case, in Austria. The fact that I am hearing impaired is a difficulty, but at the same time, it helps me because I have a greater capacity for observation, and a greater commitment to myself.
I have always wanted to be a journalist…we’ll see…
